LORC note from the chair
Hail All

The boat show has come and gone and we are moving through into spring fast. It is time to really focus on the sailing season ahead.

We start the season with the
ABYC Open, May 28th   29th. Even if the weather is cold it is a warm welcome ABYC gives to the sailing season.

Then we are at the
RCYC Open and the IRC Great Lake Championship
June 18 & 19th (part one). With
PCYC Open and the IRC Great Lake Championship (part two)
July 9 & 10. I'm looking forward to see who hosts the best racing and party.

Welcome back to the
NYC Open, as a one day event
August 13

The
EYC Level & Open regatta will shine again with great racing and party
August 27 & 28.

The last of the regattas is
QCYC Open, September 10, so very sad.

But we still have 2 distant races to go, the Boswell and the
Donald Summerville September 24.

The Overall
LORC and IRC awards party will be at NYC on November 11, mark your calendars now.

I would like to say thank you to everyone who volunteers makes these LORC events happen; they start working these events in the early fall and continue throughout summer.

Overall the GTA has some of the best racing on the lake with something for everyone, be it double handed racing events with LOSHRS (Lake Ontario Short Handed Race Series), distance racing TELDS (Toronto East Long Distance Series), Susan Hood Trophy Race and the LO300 (Lake Ontario 300), the Ahmen series (named for the founding club Alexandria, Harbour City, Mimico, Etobicoke, and National).

This year we will great fleet racing with the Opti Canadians at ABYC, the 8 Meter Worlds at RCYC, J24 North American at PCYC, and J80 North Americans at NYC so get out and watch if you can!

LYRA (Lake Yacht Racing Association) is back this year in WYC (Whitby), well worth the trip east. We have fun racing at Aquatic Park this year marking their 40th anniversary August 6th.

The PRHF Racers Association has a new web site www.phrfracersassocation.com and looking to become the voice of PHRF racing to promote PRHF racing at many of our events.

What a summer of great Sailing!

If I have missed your event or would like to expand the information of an event, send us a note about your coming up event or report about your event and well include it in our next newsletter.

Janet Geisberger, Chair

PS - it was noted that we may use too many acronyms so I tried to spell them out

Registration is OPEN

The 2016 Open Regatta Notice of Race is now posted and registration is open.

NEW THIS YEAR!

This year we are making an effort to bring Club PHRF racers back into the fold. Starting with the ABYC Open, clubs will offer one day of course racing and a second day of a "coastal" type race for those wanting to race in PHRF divisions.

The Lake Ontario PHRF Racers have their own web page here. Be sure to check out what is happening with our local PHRF fleets.

For Notice of Race and Registration information, visit www.lorc.org.

NYC Open is BACK

NYC is very pleased to be back this year with a 1 day open regatta August 13. Mark the date! Our plan so far is to have IRC and the PRHF racing.  As we are new on the calendar please let us know if your fleet would like to come to Race as we would love to have you!

We will be partying on the deck after racing then stay at NYC and participate in the AHMEN race on Sunday. What a weekend!
